LCCF ANNOUNCES 2009 OPEN GRANT CYCLE AWARDS FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY

 

The Lawrence County Community Foundation Board of Directors has awarded over $23,000 to fifteen local agencies who submitted proposals for the 2009 Open Grant Cycle.  Funding for the annual grant application process was provided by the following unrestricted funds:

            LCCF Unrestricted Fund
            Wilbur C. Dollens Fund
            Bob Bridge Fund 
            Chloral Hilderbrand Community Grants Fund
            Patrick and Sharon Robbins Fund for Lawrence County
            Ralph W. “Shorty” & Bette R. Robison Fund
            LCCF Memorials and Tributes Fund

Grants were also awarded from the following field of interest funds for senior citizens:

            Opal and Freeda Casada Fund 
            Eugene and Marilyn Glick Foundation Fund 

Two of the grantees were awarded “Challenge Grants”.  The two organizations, LIFE and Lawrence County Rural Transit, must each raise a matching amount to receive the grant.  

The Grants Committee for the Lawrence County Community Foundation is composed of select board members and other Lawrence County residents.   Patty Ford, Chairperson of the Grants Committee, said “The committee members contribute many hours of their time to review all the applications and make some tough decisions.  Our Board of Directors wishes to thank them for their effort.”
