2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Recipients
Vivienne scarpellini
Vivienne Scarpellini, daughter of Amy & Anthony Scarpellini, has been named Lawrence County Community Foundation’s 2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar. Vivienne is a senior at Bedford North Lawrence High School and hopes to major in psychology, with a minor in music. She has not yet determined the university she will attend, but the scholarship will afford many possibilities.
Vivienne responded to the news by sharing, “ When I first opened the letter telling me I had been selected, I was completely surprised. The Lilly Scholarship had always seemed like an urban legend going through high school but is now about to help me with the toughest part of college. Receiving this honor means so much and fills me with pride. I am beyond words and so incredibly thankful for the Lilly Endowment, the Lawrence County Community Foundation, and my teachers, family, and friends for having faith in me.”
An educator shared, “What separates her from other students is the way she carries herself through her many accomplishments. Vivienne is a humble and kind individual who does not boast about her achievements, but rather works hard each day to be an exemplary student and person.” She takes personal initiative to help and support her peers. Her humility is commendable. Her joy resonates with many!
Breanna Courter
Breanna Courter, daughter of Brent and Melissa Courter, has been named Martin County Community Foundation’s 2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar. Breanna, a senior at Loogootee High School, will be working toward a degree in Finance. She has not yet determined the university she will attend, but the scholarship will afford many possibilities.
Breanna responded to the news by sharing, “I just want to take a moment to say I’m extremely grateful and honored to be Martin County's 2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar. It's such a blessing given the quality of the other applicants and previous winners. I want to give thanks to God, my family, friends, teachers, coaches, and everyone who has helped me throughout the years. Additionally, I give extreme thanks to the Lilly Endowment and the Martin County Community Foundation, as this scholarship will open up many opportunities.”
Breanna has immersed herself in her school and community activities. She has become a natural leader in the school and the Loogootee community. Her accomplishments are undeniable. An educator shared, “Breanna collaborates well with her peers and treats others with kindness and understanding. What is most impressive though, is her never-give-up spirit and her positive, respectful attitude.”
